Medelita recently teamed up with @medicineinmichigan to give away 15 scrubs sets and ERKA stethoscopes to @halfway_to_pa and her medical team at a rural health clinic in the mountains of Manchester KY. This is an underserved Appalachian region with a poverty rate of 47%. Nearly 20% of the community has been diagnosed with a disabling illness and almost 10% is without health insurance. Carter and her team work hard day in and day out to keep patients up to date on screenings, arrange specialty visits, and find access to transportation and medications for those in need. There are bigger facilities with bigger paychecks in nearby towns, but you won’t find bigger hearts anywhere. This team is united in their efforts for their community and really go the extra mile, even if it means coming early or staying late.
